1 Year to 6 Months Before Departure

- [ ] Talk with Your Parents/Guardians: Share your intention to study abroad and have a serious discussion about costs and duration.
- [ ] Check Your Passport: Apply for a passport if you don’t have one. If you do, make sure it won’t expire during your stay in Japan.
6 to 3 Months Before Departure
- [ ] Apply to Your Program: Decide on a program and submit the necessary documents, such as the application form and essays.
- [ ] Selection Process: Go through document screening and interviews.
- [ ] Apply for Scholarships: Find and apply for any scholarships you are eligible for.
3 to 1 Month Before Departure
- [ ] Acceptance & Enrollment: Receive your acceptance letter from the program and pay any required deposits or fees.
- [ ] Prepare for Visa Application: Start preparing for your visa application as soon as you receive the Certificate of Eligibility (COE) from your school in Japan.
