Hello, and nice to meet you! Welcome to the website “Teen Trails Japan”. We are Kai Araki and Yuni Shimokaya, the founders.
Thank you so much for finding your way to this community out of all the websites on the internet.
We are just two ordinary high school students, born and raised in Japan. This project began last year, sparked by our encounters with international exchange students at events like the Global High School Summit and international exchange camps.
As we talked with them, we heard a common worry that many of them shared about the time before they came to Japan. “There was almost no real information about Japan or Japanese high school life, and we were incredibly anxious.”
Learning that behind their bright smiles was such a challenging period, we were shocked. At the same time, a strong feeling grew inside us. “Isn’t there something we can do to turn the anxiety of future students dreaming of a great adventure in Japan into excitement?” “Can’t we create a place where the voices of experienced senpai (senior students) can become guideposts for the next person?”
The “Trails” in our site’s name means just that.
The precious trails of adventure left behind by teens in the wonderful country of Japan. We believe that each of those individual trails will eventually form a path, becoming a guidepost—a trail—for future students who follow.
With that wish in our hearts, the two of us started Teen Trails Japan as a community hub.
To all students heading to Japan: This site is filled with the “information our senpai wished they had.” Please use it to its fullest and get off to the best possible start. We will do everything we can to support your adventure.
And to all alumni with experience studying in Japan: The true main characters of this site are each and every one of you. Would you be willing to leave your own precious experience here as a “Trail”? Your authentic words will become the most valuable guide for a student who now holds the same hopes and fears that you once did.
It is our heartfelt wish that this place will become a warm community where young people who have fallen in love with Japan can connect, support each other, and transcend all borders and generations.

ようこそ、Teen Trails Japanへ！ – 僕たちがこの場所を始めた理由
はじめまして！ ウェブサイト「Teen Trails Japan」へようこそ。 創設者の荒木嘉維と、下茅由虹です。
数あるサイトの中から、この場所を見つけてくださって、本当にありがとうございます。
僕たちは、日本で生まれ育った、ごく普通の高校生です。 このプロジェクトが始まったきっかけは、昨年参加したグローバル・ハイスクール・サミットや国際交流キャンプでの、海外からの留学生たちとの出会いでした。
彼らと話す中で僕たちが耳にしたのは、多くの留学生が来日前に抱えていた、共通の悩みでした。 「日本や日本の高校生活に関するリアルな情報が全然なくて、ものすごく不安だった」と。
キラキラした笑顔の裏に、そんな大変な時期があったことを知り、僕たちは衝撃を受けると同時に、強く思いました。 「日本での最高の冒険を夢見る未来の留学生たちの不安を、少しでも期待に変えることはできないだろうか」 「そして、素晴らしい経験をした先輩たちの声が、次の誰かの道しるべになるような場所を作れないだろうか」と。
このサイト名にある「Trails」は、英語で「足跡」や「小道」を意味します。
日本という素晴らしい国で、10代の若者（Teen）たちが残していく、かけがえのない冒険の足跡。 その一つ一つの足跡が、やがて一本の道となり、未来の後輩たちのための「道しるべ（Trail）」になる。
Teen Trails Japanは、そんな想いを込めて、僕たち二人で立ち上げたコミュニティハブです。
これから留学する皆さんへ。 このサイトは、かつての先輩たちが感じた「知りたかった情報」を詰め込んだ場所です。存分に活用して、最高のスタートを切ってください。あなたの冒険を、僕たちが全力で応援します。
そして、留学を経験された皆さんへ。 このサイトの本当の主役は、皆さん一人ひとりです。ぜひ、あなたの貴重な体験談を「Trail」として、この場所に刻んでいただけないでしょうか。あなたのリアルな言葉が、かつてのあなたと同じように希望と不安を抱える後輩にとって、何よりの道しるべになります。
